Nucleus :: Artist Cristopher Cichocki

With deep roots as a biomorphic painter, discover Cristopher’s multidisciplinary art that encapsulates the cycle of decay and renewal through examining relationships between humankind, the natural world, and industrial mutation. Cichocki studied at CalArts and Yale Norfolk School of the Art. His work is in permanent collections that include the J. Paul Getty Museum, Palm Springs Art Museum, Lancaster Museum of Art. Hailing from the Coachella Valley, Cichocki has explored the depths of the California desert over the past three decades, while generating exhibitions throughout North America, South America, Asia, and Europe.

Celebrate the 100th anniversary of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue as well as other works that premiered in 1924. German conductor Christian Reif leads the orchestra in Sibelius’ beguiling Symphony No. 7, and Respighi’s evocative tone poem The Pines of Rome. American pianist Conor Hanick is featured in the perennially popular Rhapsody in Blue, George Gershwin’s thrilling showpiece for piano and orchestra that is one of the greatest treasures in the American symphonic repertoire.

Larry Bell, one of the most influential creators to emerge from the Los Angeles art scene in the 1960s, alongside Robert Irwin, Ed Ruscha, James Turrell, and others. Born in Chicago in 1939, Bell is an experimental artist who has long explored interactions between light and surface through glass sculpture, monochrome painting, collage, and furniture design. Early in his career, he discovered a vacuum deposition technique that allowed him to transfer thin film deposits onto glass panes, resulting in his early pristine cubes that had dazzling visual effects. From there, Bell used light as a medium to home in on how different surfaces reflect, absorb, and transmit light. He later used a vacuum tank and a mounting press to experiment with heat and vapor-coated paper, resulting in mixed-media collage works.

Named as a choreographer with ”astonishing originality” by the New York Times, Alonzo King LINES Ballet has been guided by his unique artistic vision since 1982. King has works in the repertories of the world’s leading ballet and modern companies and has collaborated with distinguished visual artists, musicians and composers across the globe.

This was her way to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment which gave women the Right to Vote and the UN International Women’s Day, as well as Women’s History (aka HERstory) Month.

Jim Covarrubias is an Arizona native with decades-long experience in the Arts. He is a U.S. Army veteran, sustains an MFA from Arizona State University, and is the founder of numerous organizations involving art, public service and education including M.A.R.R.S., an alternative art space dating back to the 1970s, and the of founding arts nonprofit, Ariztlan Studios. As Ariztlan Studios’ Director, Jim has spent three decades documenting and sharing the cultural arts of the Southwest with an emphasis on Veteran arts and Native-American and Hispanic art. Formerly as the Arts Editor for Arizona Veterans Magazine, Jim worked to create opportunities for Veterans to share their stories and connect through art and art programs. He is regularly booked for live-painting performances and speaking engagements on the cultural history of the Southwest and Native-American legends.

Mary Ellen began her artistic journey in 2010 with watercolors whose luminosity captured her imagination. In late 2016, an itch to paint abstractly and on canvas led her to acrylics. Painting with acrylics non-objectively is a self-directed exploration she has pursued in earnest for five years. Experimentation, intuition, and curiosity drive her work. Complex color, sophisticated neutrals, layers of paint and texture create the transitions of shape, hue and light, that captured her paintings.
